Kenya Impact: How UK Volunteers Transform Lives
Every year, we deliver thousands of books to Kenya, distributing them to schools, Rotary Clubs, orphanages, and public-interest organisations through our Small Book Donation Scheme. We also support NGOs and government institutions to build and stock their own libraries through our Large Book Donation Scheme, ensuring books reach the communities that need them most. Titles with specialist or educational content are carefully matched with organisations that will benefit most from them.
Our ongoing work in Kwale County continues to shape the development of our programmes, informing new library construction projects and strengthening community engagement initiatives that support education, literacy, and long-term social impact.
Want to learn more? Whether you’d like to enquire about book donations, order books for your organisation, or get involved as a volunteer or partner, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch today to help us expand access to books and learning across Kenya.

Kwale County: Where Our Work Began and Continues to Grow
Kwale County is where it all began. This is the heart of our programmes in Kenya, where communities gain access to training, educational resources, and play opportunities that support learning, wellbeing, and long-term development. Through our ongoing initiatives, we continue to empower children, young people, and educators—and we will support them for as long as they need us.
Our work in Kwale County includes a wide range of activities designed to nurture skills, creativity, and confidence: writing competitions, art and craft sessions, sports and play schemes, skills training workshops, reading sessions, teacher outreach programmes, and volunteer training. By combining education, creativity, and community engagement, we create holistic opportunities that inspire growth, promote literacy, and strengthen local communities.
We remain committed to making a lasting impact in Kwale County, providing resources and programmes that foster learning, build skills, and enhance the wellbeing of children, teachers, and volunteers alike.
Small Book Donation Scheme: Making Books Accessible Across Kenya
Our Small Book Donation Scheme makes it simple for schools, libraries, orphanages, and community organisations in Kenya to access books. By keeping donations affordable and widely available, we help ensure that every child in Kenya has the opportunity to read and learn.
From our three shipments each year, we set aside at least 15,000 books specifically for this scheme, guaranteeing a steady supply of books throughout the year for any organisation that applies.
Our only two requirements are that the organisation will use the books for public benefit and that they share photos of children reading, helping us track the impact programmes make.
We encourage all schools, libraries, community groups, hospitals, remand homes, prisons and universities to enquire and take part in this initiative, so together we can continue to promote literacy, education, and learning opportunities across Kenya.
The sooner you apply for books, the sooner children in your community can dive into reading, boosting their literacy, language skills, and confidence in English.
Large Book Donation Scheme: Building Libraries and Communities in Kenya
Designed for schools, libraries, NGOs, and community organisations looking to start or expand their own libraries, our Large Book Donation Scheme delivers thousands of books—far more than a small donation can provide—to create vibrant, well-stocked spaces for all readers.
We know we can’t build libraries everywhere on our own, but with the support of universities, corporations, government organisations, and large NGOs, we can make a real difference. We provide large book donations, ranging from 1,000 to 30,000 titles, carefully selected across topics, subjects, and reading levels to serve entire communities.
If you are ready to bring books and learning opportunities to the community, we encourage you to enquire today and join us in creating libraries that inspire, educate, and transform lives.
Special Outreach: Ensuring Every Book and Item Finds the Right Home
When we receive specialised books and items—we carefully select the most appropriate recipients to maximise impact. This includes bringing comfort to seriously ill children through cuddly toys, or supporting medical students in Kenya with advanced textbooks wherever they may be.
While we cannot provide books on request, we make sure that every donation we send contributes to improving literacy, learning, and wellbeing across Kenya. We also regularly distribute large numbers of cuddly toys to terminally ill children in hospitals, bringing joy and comfort where it is needed most.
If your organisation would like to benefit from our book or toy donations, or you’d like to get involved as a volunteer, enquire today and help us continue transforming lives through learning, play, and compassion.
