Help Us Build a Home for Community, Learning and Giving Back

We’re raising £100,000 to create a UK Community Hub using converted shipping containers — accessible, welcoming spaces for volunteers, events, book sorting, and storage that will power our work locally and globally.

We are creating a purpose-built UK Community Hub that will power our volunteering, book redistribution, and community programmes for years to come. This exciting £100,000 development will transform 6–8 shipping containersinto a vibrant, fully accessible space where people can come together to give back, learn new skills, and support children and communities in the UK and Kenya.

This hub will allow us to welcome larger groups of volunteers, host more frequent events, and significantly increase the number of books and resources we can prepare and send to under-resourced communities.

What the Community Hub Will Include

Our UK Hub will be designed to be practical, welcoming, and inclusive. Funding will help us create:

  • A large community workspace with seating and facilities for groups of 30+ volunteers
  • Dedicated book sorting areas to process thousands of donated books
  • Secure storage containers for books, materials, and equipment
  • A fully accessible site with barrier-free access so everyone can take part

Each shipping container costs £4,000, with an additional £3,000 per container for conversion into safe, usable community space. Accessibility improvements across the site will require an additional £4,000, ensuring the hub is welcoming to all.

Why This Hub Matters

This UK Community Hub project will:

  • Enable more people to volunteer, connect, and contribute
  • Provide opportunities for individuals who want to give back, gain skills, and build confidence
  • Increase our capacity to sort, store, and ship books to our library projects in Kenya
  • Strengthen community wellbeing through purposeful, inclusive activities

By investing in this hub, you are not just funding a building — you are helping create a centre for generosity, learning, and community action that supports life-changing work both locally and internationally.

How You Can Support the UK Community Hub

We are seeking to raise £100,000 to make this vision a reality. We welcome donations of any size from businesses, organisations, and individuals who want to be part of a lasting community legacy.

All donors will be recognised on a Community Hub Supporters Board, displaying names and contribution amounts as a lasting thank you for helping build this shared space.
