Our DofE Youth Programme – Fun Activities to Complete Your Duke of Edinburgh Award

At Just be a Child, we are all about young people—helping them build skills, take responsibility, and grow as individuals while having fun. We understand that for many young people, especially in the lower age groups of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, finding suitable activities can be challenging. Volunteer opportunities are often limited, making it hard to complete the award. That’s where we’re different. We listen to young people and create engaging, accessible activities designed to help everyone progress at their own pace. Some activities can be done from home, while others take place at our facilities, giving flexibility and variety for every participant.

Using Your Skills to Make a Difference – At Home or in Your Community

Part of your Duke of Edinburgh Award journey is learning how to use your initiative, communicate confidently, and make an impact. Our activities help you develop practical skills like networking, planning, and leadership—whether you’re at home or out in your community.

Here’s how you can get started:

  1. Use Your Charm and Connections – think about friends, family, or local groups who might be able to help.

  2. Create a Plan and Script – practice what you want to say before asking.

  3. Identify Who to Ask – target people or organizations likely to support your cause.

  4. Make Your Request – when you’re ready, ask for books, pens, pencils, toys, and learning materials to support your chosen project.

These activities are perfect for independent DofE participants, giving you the chance to develop confidence, organizational skills, and communication skills—all while contributing to your community in meaningful ways.
