Our Crafters Crews
Our Crafters Crews use their sewing, knitting, and crocheting skills to support vulnerable children in Kenya through handmade donations that provide care, comfort, and dignity. Working mostly from home across the UK, our volunteers create large volumes of baby blankets, clothes, and knitted teddies for babies born into some of the most challenging circumstances, as well as toys for children’s wards in hospitals throughout Kenya.
Our sewing volunteers make simple but essential fabric bags for our Kenyan school children, which are delivered to schools with little or no resources. Each bag is lovingly handmade and filled with books, pens, rulers, and other school supplies to help children learn and thrive.
This volunteering opportunity is open to anyone in the UK, wherever you live. Simply make your items and send them to us. As these gifts are for children, we ask just one thing: please make them as colourful and joyful as possible.
Crafts Crews: How It Works
Knit for Kenyan Children: Baby Blankets, Clothes, Hats & Toys from Home
You can knit any item you like—from hats and booties to jumpers and blankets. Whatever you enjoy making will help bring comfort and joy to vulnerable children in Kenya.
There are no size requirements or restrictions—just use the wool you have. If you choose to buy new wool, please select soft and bright yarn. Both boys and girls will benefit, so a mix of colours is ideal.
The pattern doesn’t matter, but items that are tightly knitted tend to last longer. Please avoid scratchy materials to keep the items comfortable for little ones.

Whether you love crocheting clothes or toys, every item you make will bring comfort and joy to vulnerable children in Kenya. Your creativity matters, so choose projects you enjoy making—there are no size or pattern requirements.
You can use any yarn you already have, but if you pick up new yarn, please select soft, bright, and child-friendly colours. Both boys and girls benefit from your handmade gifts, so a variety of colours is perfect.

Sew School Bags for Kenyan Children: Handmade Donations to Support Education
If sewing is your passion, you can make a real difference by sewing school bags for children in Kenya. Use any fabric you have, but sturdy fabrics are best, and bright, cheerful colours are highly appreciated.
Our preferred bag size is approximately 28 cm wide by 32 cm high, with two handles of 63 cm, but feel free to adjust the dimensions to fit your fabric. Handles can be made from sewing tape or other materials and don’t need to be stitched.
